Burger Sauce
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup finely minced yellow onion
- 2 tablespoons dill or sweet relish
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Fries
- 32 oz frozen french fries
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 6-8 slices American cheese
Cook the fries. Cook the fries according to package instructions. I prefer to air fry them when I can!
Caramelize the onion. While the fries cook, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat and once the butter is melted and foamy, add the diced onion. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Cook, stirring often, until the onion is deeply golden. Season with salt and pepper.
Mix the burger sauce. Combine all the burger sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Preheat an oven to 400 F.
Bake the fries. Spread the cooked fries out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper so that the fries are all fairly close together. Arrange the cheese slices over the top to mostly cover the fries. Bake for 5-8 minutes, until the fries are hot and the cheese is melted.
Finish. Top the fries with the caramelized onions. Drizzle all over with the burger sauce and serve right away.
