Gingerbread old-fashioned cake donuts are the perfect holiday breakfast or brunch recipe. They're made in one bowl and only take an hour! Don't skip the eggnog glaze!

1. Make the Dough

Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl. Add the wet ingredients and mix until the dough resembles cookie dough. Cover and chill for 30 min. 

2. Roll out the Donuts

On a floured surface, roll the dough out to 3/4" thickness. 

3. Cut the Donuts

Using a circle cutter, cut out as many donuts as possible. Gather the dough back up and re-roll and repeat. 

4. Chill

Use a smaller circle cutter or a shot glass to cut out the donut holes. Place the donuts on a baking sheet. Score the donuts with a smaller circle.  Cover and refrigerate for 20 min.

5. Fry and Glaze

Heat canola oil to 350 F and fry for 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a rack set over a baking sheet. While still warm, dip the donuts in the glaze. 

Done!

Enjoy fresh gingerbread donuts! Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
