Easy Grilled Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients

Step 1

Toast beans and walnuts. Toss beans and walnuts with oil, salt, and pepper and toast for 20 min in the oven.

Step 2

Mix wet ingredients. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients and spices until smooth. 

Step 3

Pulse. Pulse the oats until it's a fine meal, then add the beans and walnuts and pulse until uniform. 

Step 4

Mix. Fold the wet ingredients into the pulsed bean and walnut mixture until the mixture holds together.  

Step 5

Shape. Shape the mixture into patties and refrigerate for 20 minutes. You can also freeze them at this point. 

Step 6

Grill. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Grill 4-5 minutes per side, until warmed through with grill marks. 

Step 7

Assemble. Toast your burger buns, add your black bean burgers, and top as desired.
