Boil pasta in salted water til al dente. Reserve some pasta water.

Sauté shallots and garlic in olive oil and butter until softned and fragrant. 

Add the calabrian chili and cook for 1 minute. 

Add the tomato paste and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring often. Then add the vodka and simmer for 2 minutes. 

Add pasta, pasta water, cream, mascarpone, and butter. Simmer and season with salt and pepper. 

Done!

Top with freshly grated parmesan and serve warm.
