Grandma-Style Pizza Recipe

Grandma-style pizza is the best-kept pizza secret ever. Grandma-style pizza delivers a thick, chewy crust topped with a fresh tomato sauce and tons of melty cheese.

1. Make the Dough

Combine the water and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer. Once the yeast is foamy, add the flour, salt and olive oil and mix until smooth. Transfer to a greased bowl and let it rise until doubled in size.

2. Stretch the  Dough

Drizzle the grandma-style pizza pan with olive oil and gently stretch the dough until it reaches the edges. If it springs back, wait 5 minutes and try again.

3. Top with Sauce

4. Layer the Cheese

Top generously with cheese. I like using a mix of mozzarella cheese and fontina cheese. Dot the top with more sauce.

5. Bake!

Bake the pizza at 500 F for 18-20 minutes until the cheese is lightly browned and the sauce is bubbly.


Cut into squares and top with fresh basil leaves before serving!
